金库房间上了大锁，钱就堆在帐簿台上。这一天，调皮的猴子想用这些钱对大海作一次无私的奉献。猴子的欢乐和吝啬鬼的斤斤计较真具戏剧色彩，相信猴子的举动能得到一些人的理解，但要说孰对孰错，恐怕也得分析大半天才行。这只专司捣蛋的猴溜进了库房，从大堆的钱财中随意翻捡着各国的金币。为了证明自己的力气和投掷技巧，它将攒钱人视为生命的贵金属币扔出了窗外。要不是听到那位爱攒钱的人把钥匙插进锁孔开门准备算账，我们这只爱捣乱的猴还不明白会扔出去多少杜卡金币。也许它会使所有的金币全都飞向大海，坠入那屡屡发生沉船的海底深渊，使库房里荡然无存。

狐狸早有准备，他狡猾地说：“我倒有一个方法。你用前脚扒在井墙上，再把角竖直了，我从你后背跳上井去，再拉你上来，我们就都得救了。”公山羊同意了他的提议，狐狸踩着他的后脚，跳到他背上，然后再从角上用力一跳，跳出了井口。狐狸上去以后，准备独自逃离。公山羊指责狐狸不信守诺言。狐狸回过头对公山羊说：“喂，朋友，你的头脑如果像你的胡须那样完美，你就不至于在没看清出口之前就盲目地跳下去。”
这故事说明，聪明的人应当事先思考清楚事情的结果，然后才去做。
