英语寓言小故事 篇一

The Clever Fox and the Foolish Crow

Once upon a time, in a lush green forest, there lived a clever fox and a foolish crow. The crow was known for its beautiful voice, while the fox was known for its cunning ways.

One day, the crow found a delicious piece of cheese and flew up to a branch to enjoy it. As the crow was about to take the first bite, the fox spotted the cheese and came up with a plan to steal it.

The fox approached the crow and said, "Oh, what a magnificent bird you are! Your voice must be as sweet as your appearance. Would you be so kind as to sing me a song?"

Pleased with the fox's flattery, the crow opened its beak to sing. As it did, the cheese fell from its mouth and into the waiting jaws of the fox.

The crow realized its mistake too late and watched helplessly as the fox devoured the cheese. From then on, the crow learned to be cautious of flattery and never to trust those who seek to deceive.

The moral of the story is that it is better to be wise and cautious than to be easily fooled by empty compliments.

The Tortoise and the Hare

In a bustling meadow, there lived a tortoise and a hare who were known for their competitive nature. The hare was fast and arrogant, while the tortoise was slow and steady.

One day, the hare challenged the tortoise to a race. Confident in his speed, the hare boasted, "I will beat you in a heartbeat! You are no match for me."

The tortoise accepted the challenge, and the race began. The hare sprinted ahead, leaving the tortoise far behind. However, the hare soon grew tired and decided to take a nap under a shady tree.

Meanwhile, the tortoise continued plodding along at its slow and steady pace. It never stopped or wavered, keeping its eyes on the finish line.

When the hare woke up from its nap, it was shocked to see the tortoise nearing the finish line. With a burst of energy, the hare sprinted towards the end, but it was too late. The tortoise crossed the finish line first, winning the race.

The moral of the story is that slow and steady wins the race. It is better to be consistent and persistent in achieving your goals, rather than relying on talent alone.
