My Pen Friend
My name is Lily, and I have a pen friend named Emily. We became pen friends two years ago when our English teacher suggested that we exchange letters with students from another country to practice our English. Emily lives in England, so we communicate through letters and emails.
Emily is a very interesting person. She is fifteen years old, just like me, and she lives in a small town in England called Chester. In her letters, she tells me all about her life and what it's like living in England. She describes the beautiful countryside, the historic castles, and the charming villages. Reading her letters feels like taking a virtual tour of England!
We often talk about our hobbies and interests. Emily loves playing the piano and she is very talented. She even sent me a recording of her playing a classical piece, and it was amazing! I, on the other hand, enjoy painting and drawing. I often send her pictures of my artwork and she always gives me encouraging feedback.
Apart from our hobbies, we also discuss our school life. Emily goes to a traditional English school where they wear uniforms and have strict rules. She tells me about her classes, her teachers, and the different subjects she is studying. In return, I tell her about my school in China and the subjects I enjoy the most.
What I love about having a pen friend is that I get to learn so much about a different culture. Emily tells me about English customs and traditions, like having afternoon tea and celebrating Guy Fawkes Night. I, in turn, tell her about Chinese festivals and traditions, like the Spring Festival and the Dragon Boat Festival. It's fascinating to compare our cultures and discover both the similarities and differences.
Even though we have never met in person, Emily feels like a true friend to me. We share our dreams, our fears, and our ambitions. We support each other through difficult times and celebrate each other's achievements.
