《傲慢与偏见》英语读后感 篇一

After reading "Pride and Prejudice", I couldn't help but be amazed by Jane Austen's remarkable storytelling and her ability to capture the nuances of human relationships. This classic novel takes place in early 19th century England and revolves around the Bennet family, particularly the second eldest daughter, Elizabeth Bennet.

Throughout the story, Austen explores themes of love, marriage, and social class, all while providing a satirical commentary on the society of her time. The title itself, "Pride and Prejudice", is a reflection of the two main characters, Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth, who initially form negative opinions about each other due to their own pride and prejudice.

What struck me the most about this novel is Austen's portrayal of Elizabeth as a strong-willed and independent woman, especially considering the time period in which the story is set. Elizabeth defies societal norms by refusing to marry for financial security and instead follows her heart. She challenges the expectations placed upon her as a woman and refuses to conform to the restrictions imposed by society.

Another aspect of the novel that I found intriguing was the exploration of the various social classes and their impact on relationships. The Bennet family, though belonging to the lower gentry, struggles to maintain their social standing and secure advantageous marriages for their daughters. This constant pressure to marry well reflects the societal emphasis on wealth and status over genuine love and compatibility.

Austen's use of irony and wit adds depth and humor to the story. Her sharp observations and clever dialogue create a sense of realism and make the characters come alive. I found myself captivated by the interactions between the characters and eagerly anticipating the next twist and turn in the plot.

Overall, "Pride and Prejudice" is a timeless classic that continues to resonate with readers today. Austen's exploration of love, marriage, and societal expectations is as relevant now as it was in the 19th century. The novel serves as a reminder that true love and happiness can only be found by looking beyond superficial appearances and societal pressures.

《傲慢与偏见》英语读后感 篇二

Upon completing my reading of "Pride and Prejudice", I was left with a profound sense of admiration for Jane Austen's ability to craft complex and memorable characters. This novel, set in the early 19th century, revolves around the tumultuous relationship between Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy, and explores themes of love, social class, and personal growth.

One of the most intriguing aspects of the novel is Austen's exploration of the concept of pride. Through the character of Mr. Darcy, she highlights the destructive nature of excessive pride and its potential to hinder personal relationships. Initially seen as arrogant and aloof, Darcy's character development throughout the novel is a testament to Austen's skillful storytelling. As he comes to realize the errors of his ways, Darcy undergoes a transformation that ultimately leads to his redemption and the mending of his relationship with Elizabeth.

Similarly, Elizabeth's journey from prejudice to acceptance is a central theme in the novel. Her initial disdain for Mr. Darcy is rooted in her own preconceived notions and biases. However, as the story progresses, Elizabeth learns the importance of looking beyond appearances and societal expectations. She grows to appreciate Darcy's true character and recognizes the value of sincerity and integrity in a potential partner.

Austen's portrayal of the societal constraints faced by women during this time period is also worth noting. The Bennet sisters are constantly reminded of the importance of securing advantageous marriages to secure their future. However, Elizabeth's refusal to conform to these expectations sets her apart from her peers. She values her own happiness and refuses to settle for a loveless marriage, even if it means facing criticism and judgment from those around her.

The language and style of "Pride and Prejudice" further enhance the reading experience. Austen's use of irony and wit adds depth to the characters and their interactions. The dialogue is sharp and engaging, making it easy to become fully immersed in the story. Additionally, Austen's commentary on societal norms and expectations provides valuable insights into the time period in which the novel is set.

In conclusion, "Pride and Prejudice" is a literary masterpiece that continues to captivate readers with its timeless themes and memorable characters. Austen's examination of pride, prejudice, and societal expectations serves as a reminder of the importance of self-reflection and personal growth. This novel remains a relevant and thought-provoking exploration of human relationships and the complexities of love.

"Pride and prejudice" is the famous British writer Jane Austen masterpiece, the works in daily life for material, the romantic and reality love story.

Works of vivid reflects the late eighteenth to well into the nineteenth century in the conservative and block state of the British town life and ways of the world. 傲慢与偏见英语读后感(二)

Many people simply regard Pride and Prejudice as a love story, but in my opinion, this book is an illustration of the society at that time. She perfectly reflected the relation between money and marriage at her time and gave the people in her works vivid characters.

The characters have their own personalities. Mrs. Bennet is a woman who makes great efforts to marry off her daughters. Mr. Bingley is a friendly young man, but his friend, Mr. Darcy, is a very proud man who seems to always feel superior. Even the five daughters in Bennet family are very different. Jane is simple, innocent and never speaks evil of others. Elizabeth is a clever girl who always has her own opinion. Mary likes reading classic books. (Actually she is a pedant.) Kitty doesn’t have her own opinion but likes to follow her sister, Lydia. Lydia is a girl who follows exotic things, handsome man, and is

somehow a little profligate. When I read the book, I can always find the same personalities in the society now. That is why I think this book is indeed the representative of the society in Britain in the 18th century.

The family of gentleman in the countryside is Jane Austen’s favourite topic. But this little topic can reflect big problems. It concludes the stratum situation and economic relationships in Britain in her century. You can find these from the very beginning of this book.

The first sentence in this book is impressive. It reads: “It is a truth well known to all the world that an unmarried man in possession of a large fortune must be in need of a wife”. The undertone is very clear: the foundation of the marriage at that time is not emotion but possession.

People always think that Austen was an expert at telling love stories. In fact, the marriage in her book is not the result of love, but the result of economic needs. After reading this book, I know the truth is that a poor woman must be in need of a husband, a wealthy man.

I couldn’t forget how eager Mrs. Bennet wants to marry off her daughters. If you want to know why she is so crazy about these things, I must mention the situation in Britain at that time. Only the eldest son had the privilege of inheriting his father’s possessions. Younger sons and daughters who are used to luxurious lives have no choice but marry a man or woman in possession of a large fortune to continue their comfortable lives. Thus, we can see that getting married is a way to become wealthier, particularly for women without many possessions. Jane Austen told us that money and possession determined everything, including marriage and love in her century.

In “Pride and Prejudice”, the sister of Mr. Bingley strongly opposed his plan of marrying Jane because the Bennets don’t have many possessions and their social positions are much lower than them. From this, we can see there are a lot of obstacles for a not very rich woman to marry a wealthy husband. The society, the relatives would not allow them to get married.

In modern society, although the marriages of economic needs have decreased rapidly, the concept of “money determines everything” is still rooted in some people’s mind. A lot of parents try hard to interfere their children’s marriages. Education background, possessions, jobs remains the main reason that may influence one’s marriage. Marry for money is still a big problem in our society. We can’t help thinking: can money determine everything?

Austen left this problem for us to think. The genius of Jane Austen lies in this perfect simplicity, the simplicity that reflects big problems. Although Austen was only 21 when she wrote “Pride and Prejudice”, her sharp observation of social lives makes the style of this book surprisingly mature and lively. The plots in her works are always very natural. The development of the plot is as inevitable as a problem in mathematics. I think the depth of Pride and Prejudice is the reason that makes this book prominent and classic. Today, her book still can be the guide telling us the economic relationships both at her time and in modern time.
