经典英语故事短文 篇一
The Lion and the Mouse
Once upon a time, in a dense jungle, there lived a mighty lion. He was feared by all the animals in the jungle as he was the king of the jungle. One day, while the lion was taking a nap, a little mouse accidentally ran over his paw. The lion woke up in anger and caught the mouse with his huge paw.
The mouse trembled with fear and begged for mercy. The lion laughed at the tiny creature and was about to eat it when the mouse pleaded, "Please, Mr. Lion, let me go. One day, I might be able to help you." The lion found this amusing and decided to let the mouse go.
A few days later, the lion was caught in a hunter's net. He roared and struggled to break free, but the net was too strong. Just then, the little mouse passed by and saw the lion in trouble. Remembering the lion's act of kindness, the mouse decided to help. With his sharp teeth, the mouse gnawed at the ropes of the net until the lion was able to break free.
The lion was amazed and grateful to the tiny mouse. He realized that kindness knows no size and that even the smallest creatures can be of help. From that day on, the lion and the mouse became good friends, looking out for each other in the jungle.
The moral of the story is that no act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted. It teaches us to be kind to others, as you never know when you might need their help in return.
经典英语故事短文 篇二
The Tortoise and the Hare
In a meadow, there lived a speedy hare who boasted about his speed to everyone he met. He would challenge anyone to a race, claiming that no one could beat him. One day, a slow and steady tortoise overheard the hare's bragging and decided to challenge him to a race.
The hare laughed at the tortoise and accepted the challenge, thinking it would be an easy win. The race began, and the hare dashed ahead, leaving the tortoise far behind. The hare was so confident of his victory that he decided to take a nap under a tree.
Meanwhile, the tortoise continued to plod along, never giving up. Slowly but steadily, he made his way to the finish line. When the hare woke up from his nap and saw the tortoise crossing the finish line, he was shocked. The tortoise had won the race!
The hare was humiliated and learned a valuable lesson that day. He realized that overconfidence and arrogance can lead to failure. The tortoise, on the other hand, taught us the importance of perseverance and determination.
The moral of the story is "slow and steady wins the race." It reminds us that consistency and perseverance are key to success, and that it's not always the fastest or strongest who emerge victorious in the end.
