英语寓言故事 篇一
The Clever Fox and the Greedy Crow
Once upon a time, in a lush green forest, there lived a clever fox and a greedy crow. The fox was known for his cunning ways, while the crow was known for his greediness.
One day, the crow found a piece of delicious cheese and flew up to a tree branch to enjoy it. The fox, who had been watching from a distance, came up with a plan to trick the crow and steal the cheese for himself.
"Good day, Mr. Crow!" said the fox with a sly smile. "You look so beautiful and majestic sitting up there on that branch. I bet you have a wonderful voice too. Would you mind singing me a song?"
The crow, flattered by the fox's words, opened his beak and let out a loud caw. As he did, the cheese fell from his beak and into the waiting jaws of the fox below.
"Thank you, Mr. Crow, for your beautiful song," said the fox as he gobbled up the cheese. "Remember, never trust a flatterer like me. Greed will always be your downfall."
And with that, the fox trotted off into the forest, leaving the crow feeling foolish and regretful. From that day on, the crow learned to be more cautious and less greedy, while the fox continued to use his cunning ways to outsmart others in the forest.
The moral of the story: Beware of flattery and greed, for they can lead to your downfall.
英语寓言故事 篇二
The Tortoise and the Hare
In a peaceful meadow, there lived a tortoise and a hare who were known for their competitive nature. The hare was known for his speed and arrogance, while the tortoise was known for his slow and steady pace.
One day, the hare challenged the tortoise to a race. Laughing at the thought of the slow tortoise beating him, the hare eagerly agreed to the challenge. The race was set to begin the next day, with the finish line being a tall oak tree at the edge of the meadow.
As the race began, the hare quickly darted ahead, leaving the tortoise far behind. Confident in his speed, the hare decided to take a nap under a shady tree, thinking he had more than enough time to catch up to the slow tortoise.
Meanwhile, the tortoise continued on at his slow and steady pace, never once stopping to rest. As the hare slept, the tortoise steadily made his way to the finish line, never once losing sight of his goal.
When the hare finally awoke from his nap, he was shocked to see the tortoise crossing the finish line ahead of him. The tortoise had won the race through his determination and perseverance, while the hare had lost due to his overconfidence and arrogance.
The moral of the story: Slow and steady wins the race. It is better to be steady and determined in your efforts than to be quick and careless.
英语寓言故事 篇三
A RICH Woman having returned from abroad disembarked at the foot of Knee-deep Street, and was about to walk to her hotel through the mud.
"Madam," said a Policeman,"I cannot permit you to do that;you would soil your shoes and stockings."
"Oh,that is of no importance, really," replied the Rich Woman, with a cheerful smile.
"But,madam,it is needless;from the wharf to the hotel,as you observe, extends an unbroken line of prostrate newspaper men who
crave the honour of having you walk upon them."
"In that case," she said, seating herself in a doorway and unlocking her satchel,"I shall have to put on my rubber boots."

So he cast his net into the river and soon drew it forth filled with fish.
Then he took his bagpipes again, and,as he played, the fish leapt up in the net.
"Ah,you dance now when I play," said he.
"Yes," said an old Fish:
"When you are in a man's power you must do as he bids you."

The Frogs Asking for a King
THE FROGS,grieved at having no established Ruler, sent ambassadors to Jupiter entreating for a King.
Perceiving their simplicity,he cast down a huge log into the lake.
The Frogs were terrified at the splash occasioned by its fall and hid themselves in the depths of the pool.
But as soon as they realized that the huge log was motionless, they swam again to the top of the water, dismissed their fears, climbed up,and began squatting on it in contempt.
After some time they began to think themselves ill-treated in the appointment of so inert a Ruler, and sent a second deputation to Jupiter to pray that he would set over them another sovereign.
He then gave them an Eel to govern them.
When the Frogs discovered his easy good nature, they sent yet a third time to Jupiter to beg him to choose for them still another King.
Jupiter, displeased with all their complaints, sent a Heron, who preyed upon the Frogs day by day till there were none left to croak upon the lake.
The Cat and the King
A CAT was looking at a King,as permitted by the proverb.
"Well," said the monarch, observing her inspection of the royal person,"how do you like me?"
"I can imagine a King," said the Cat,"whom I should like better."
"For example?"
"The King of the Mice."
The sovereign was so pleased with the wit of the reply that he gave her permission to scratch his Prime Minister's eyes out.

If you only had treated bal}et like that and did not give up so easily;therefore, you still deserve my verdict! "
