Title: The Lost Puppy
One sunny afternoon, Sarah was walking home from school when she heard a faint whimpering sound coming from the bushes. Curious, she went to investigate and found a tiny, shivering puppy hiding among the leaves. The puppy had a collar with the name "Buddy" engraved on it, but there was no contact information.
Feeling sorry for the lost puppy, Sarah decided to take him home with her. She fed him, gave him a warm bath, and cuddled him until he fell asleep. The next day, Sarah asked her parents if they could keep Buddy, and after seeing how much Sarah cared for the puppy, they agreed.
Sarah and Buddy quickly became best friends. They went on walks together, played in the park, and snuggled up on the couch to watch TV. Sarah even taught Buddy some tricks, like how to sit, shake paws, and roll over.
One day, while they were out for a walk, Sarah spotted a poster on a telephone pole with a picture of a puppy that looked just like Buddy. The poster said that the puppy had gone missing a few days ago and offered a reward for his safe return. Sarah realized that Buddy must belong to someone else and that they had been desperately searching for him.
Feeling torn between her love for Buddy and the desire to do the right thing, Sarah decided to call the number on the poster. The owner was overjoyed to hear that his beloved pet had been found and came to pick up Buddy right away. He thanked Sarah for taking care of Buddy and even offered her a reward, but Sarah refused.
Although she was sad to say goodbye to Buddy, Sarah knew that he belonged with his rightful owner. She waved goodbye as Buddy happily wagged his tail and ran off with his owner, knowing that she had done the right thing.

Title: The Magic Paintbrush
Once upon a time, in a small village, there lived a poor orphan boy named Jack. He had a talent for painting and would spend hours creating beautiful works of art on any surface he could find. However, Jack longed for a proper paintbrush of his own, as he could only use makeshift brushes made from twigs and leaves.
One day, an old man approached Jack and handed him a dusty old paintbrush. "This is a magic paintbrush," the old man said. "Whatever you paint with it will come to life."
Excited and grateful, Jack thanked the old man and immediately began to paint with the magic brush. To his amazement, the painting of a flower he had created bloomed before his eyes, and the petals rustled in the breeze. Jack's eyes widened with wonder as he realized the power of the magic paintbrush.
Jack painted all sorts of things with the magic brush – trees that swayed in the wind, animals that frolicked in the meadows, and even a castle that shimmered in the moonlight. The villagers were amazed by Jack's creations and came from far and wide to see the wonders he had painted.
However, word of the magic paintbrush soon reached the ears of a greedy king who desired the brush for himself. He sent his soldiers to Jack's village to seize the paintbrush, but Jack refused to give it up. Determined to protect his precious gift, Jack painted a fierce dragon that breathed fire and scared away the soldiers.
Realizing the danger the magic paintbrush posed in the wrong hands, Jack made a difficult decision. He painted a beautiful sunset on the horizon and, with a heavy heart, handed the brush to the old man who had given it to him. The old man smiled knowingly and vanished into thin air, taking the magic brush with him.
Although Jack no longer had the magic paintbrush, he continued to paint with his makeshift brushes and brought joy to the villagers with his creations. And deep down, Jack knew that the real magic was not in the brush itself, but in the beauty and wonder that he could create with his own two hands.

good evening, honorable judges, ladies and gentlemen.
it’s my great pleasure to stand here to present my speech—change the world, change ourselves.
it’s noticable that western holidays are becoming increasingly popular day by day, while chinese traditional festivals are being somewhat neglected. not long before about 10 doctors in beijing university and qinghua unversity announced that we should reject the invasion of western holidays ,because they regard western holidays as an challenge against our traditional festivals and culture.
frankly speaking, i don’t quite agree with , we should never neglect or even discard our traditonal festivals as china boasts a brilliant history and splendid traditions. (examples).but why can’t we absorb the meaningful western holidays and culture. there are obvious reasons why some western holidays are so popular in china. on the one hand, some of the western holidays which we chinese don’t have are reasonable and meaningful, such as father’s day and april fool’s day etc. on the other hand, the prevalence of globalization enables western culture to prevail in china. overwhelmed by such a trend, chinese unconsiciously get involved in western holidays and culture.
with the further development of the whole world, the cu
ltural communication between different countries and nations becomes faster and more and more important. we are indeed from different nations, but we are the citizens of the same world, so the outstanding culture of different nations is the commom wealth of everyone on the only way for us to protect our traditional culture is to reject the foreign culture? the answer is definitely no. what we ought to do is to spare no effort to educate chinese to get to know and treasure our splendid traditions instead of rejecting foreign culture. only by educating can we set our confidence and belief towards our culture. only by educating can we preserve and promote the wealth that our ancesters left for us.
at last i’d like to share a famouse saying of gandhi with all of you ,that is:if you want to change the world, then you must change yourself first.”
