Title: The Great Gatsby - A Story of Illusion and Reality
The Great Gatsby, written by F. Scott Fitzgerald, is a compelling novel that delves into the themes of illusion and reality. Through his vivid descriptions and nuanced characters, Fitzgerald explores the dangers of pursuing an illusionary dream and the harsh realities that lie beneath the surface.
The story is set in the 1920s, a time of great economic prosperity and social change in America. The protagonist, Jay Gatsby, is a mysterious and wealthy man who throws extravagant parties in the hopes of attracting his long-lost love, Daisy Buchanan. Gatsby's relentless pursuit of Daisy is driven by his belief that she represents the epitome of success and happiness. However, as the story unfolds, it becomes clear that Gatsby's perception of Daisy is merely an illusion.
Fitzgerald masterfully portrays the characters' desires for a better life, a life that is often unattainable. Gatsby's opulent parties and extravagant lifestyle are a fa?ade, concealing his desperate longing for acceptance and love. Daisy, on the other hand, is trapped in a loveless marriage and seeks solace in the material comforts that her husband provides. Both characters are ensnared in a web of illusion, unable to escape the harsh realities of their lives.
Through the character of Nick Carraway, the novel's narrator, Fitzgerald provides a voice of reason and truth amidst the chaos of illusion. Nick serves as a moral compass, observing the decadence and superficiality of the wealthy elite. He recognizes that the pursuit of wealth and social status is a hollow endeavor, ultimately leading to disappointment and disillusionment.
As I read The Great Gatsby, I couldn't help but reflect on the illusions we create in our own lives. In today's society, we are bombarded with images of success and happiness, often leading us to chase unattainable dreams. Fitzgerald's novel serves as a cautionary tale, reminding us that true fulfillment can only be found in authenticity and genuine connections with others.
In conclusion, The Great Gatsby is a thought-provoking novel that explores the themes of illusion and reality. Fitzgerald's vivid descriptions and complex characters bring to life the dangers of pursuing an illusionary dream and the harsh truths that lie beneath. This book serves as a poignant reminder to seek authenticity and genuine connections in a world that is often consumed by illusions.

Title: To Kill a Mockingbird - A Lesson in Compassion and Justice
To Kill a Mockingbird, written by Harper Lee, is a profound novel that explores themes of compassion and justice in a racially divided society. Through the eyes of Scout Finch, a young girl growing up in the 1930s, Lee provides a powerful commentary on the injustices of prejudice and discrimination.
The story takes place in the fictional town of Maycomb, Alabama, where racial tensions run high. Scout's father, Atticus Finch, is a lawyer who defends Tom Robinson, a black man falsely accused of raping a white woman. As the trial unfolds, Lee skillfully exposes the deep-rooted racism and prejudice that permeate the town.
Through Scout's innocent perspective, the reader witnesses the profound impact of compassion and empathy. Scout befriends a young boy named Dill and together, they embark on a journey to understand the world around them. Through their interactions with Boo Radley, a reclusive neighbor, and Calpurnia, the Finch family's African American housekeeper, Scout learns the importance of seeing beyond appearances and treating others with kindness and respect.
Atticus Finch, a symbol of justice and moral integrity, serves as a guiding force throughout the novel. Despite the hostility and threats he faces, Atticus remains steadfast in his pursuit of truth and equality. He teaches his children the importance of empathy and understanding, instilling in them a sense of moral responsibility.
As I read To Kill a Mockingbird, I was struck by the timeless relevance of its themes. Prejudice and discrimination continue to plague our society, and Lee's novel serves as a reminder of the importance of compassion and justice. The story reminds us that change begins with individuals, and that we must strive to create a more inclusive and equal world.
In conclusion, To Kill a Mockingbird is a powerful novel that explores themes of compassion and justice in a racially divided society. Through Scout's innocent perspective and Atticus Finch's unwavering moral compass, Lee challenges us to confront our own prejudices and strive for a more compassionate and just society. This book serves as a timeless reminder that change begins with each and every one of us.
英语读后感 篇三
Carrie was such an ordinary rural girl at the beginning of the story. Sitting on the seat of a bus, she couldn’t help feeling exciting at the sight of the metropolis’ spectacle. She was impressed deeply by large crowd on the avenue, the spacious square or tall buildings.
Far more different from other heroines, Carrie was not a plain pure angel like Snow-white, nor was she brave enough to be a heroine of revolutionist or even a reformer, nor was she so clever as to be a successful career woman who start from scratch.
What attracted her most, after her entering this huge metropolis was the incredible fineries, fashion shoes, smart handbags displaying in the shop windows, the jewellerys shining brightly behind the glass. She dreamed that one day, she could wear all of these, jogging gracefully into the most luxurious hotel with focused sights of admiration.
And this was not merely a dream. Because she had large eyes which can earn others’ sympathy, even love. She had wonderful figure which can win others’ hearts. However, anything she got, anywhere she reached, had not come from her ambition. Things happened, and then she accepted. That’s what she had just done — just to accept willingly from the bottom of her heart. She was not at all an evil woman who would give anything for the fortune or fame. However, she would give uo something for a better life when her instinct defeated her intellect.
That was Carrie, a girl had her own desire, a human being just like many others in the realistic world.
There’s one sentence written in chapter VIII:” When this jangle of free-will instinct shall have been adjusted, when perfect understanding has given the former the power to replace the latter entirely, man will no longer vary.” However, how many people can go that further.
And I want to quote another sentence to wind up my essay:
“In Carrie — as in how many of our wordings do they not? — instinct and reason, desire and understanding, were at war for the mastery.”

Didn't see the animation for a time, the only reason is that there is no better animation masterpiece can appeal to me, but this "despicable me" look tonight let me not stop laughing, I haven't felt it, seems to be the film, the film of that original moved been thinking over, replaced, although still have deep feelings of the movie, but has become less pure, or should I say is too pure.
Despicable me "in the first half of the imagination really let me be startled at various all sorts of strange things, the invention of Pyramid as well as the moon, stealing ideas and so on, but it does not keep this advantage, at the back we can obviously feel it in imagination too, repeated design makes the second half, monotonous.
But it is stubbornly find narrative logic in general make trouble out of nothing rigorous from cartoon, so "despicable me" still can not stop me every 3 minutes in the heart for this movie exclamation "too cool".
For the film, but also for their development in the future hope, hope they later animation can do better, to create their own piece of heaven.

Once I take it for granted, enjoying the warm sunshine ,eating the delicious food, living in the world and just killing the time.I’m not sure of what I shuld do for my future and what I can do for others.
And one film seems to make me aware of them,it’s called 2012.Not only did the excellent stunt makes me forget to breathe, but also its moving plots hit my heart as well.I still remembered that president of the United Sorgtates said,”Everyone should have a chance to ask for forgivene to each other, mothers should have a chance to comfort their children. And let’s step into into the darkne together.”Though it was the end of the days, the president gave his fellow citizens rights to know.Although the busineman was cheap and selfish,he threw his children to the ship and he lost the chance to survive. At this moment , I realized that my parents will never discard me whatever happens.
After watching it ,I began to think about what I would do when the same devastating catastrophy happened. And now,I clearly figure out what I should do.From now on,I will cherish all the things I have, for instance, the love from my parents and friends, the health, the wits. What the most meaningful thing I will
do is that I will help and comfort the people who are suffering from difficulties .Last but not least.I will endeavor to realize my dream and I want to be an interpreter. And I will never regret when I am at the end of days.

Robinson Crusoe is a beautiful novel that was written by Daniel Defoe, it was first published in 1719.It was arguably the first novel to ever be published which is no surprise given the date! The book really is superbly written throughout and I found it a real pleasure to read. The novel is about 270 pages and contains an epilogue.Daniel Defoe is seen by many to be one of the most famous writers in English Literature and after reading this novel it is easy to see why;I would really recommend it.
The novel is actually a fiction autobiography about the man named Robinson Crusoe. He is a man who is the sole survivor of a shipwreck just off Venesuila and he encounters many things acro his journey before actually being rescued. He is stranded on an island that is no way near any ships and the island is completely unihabited.Robinson Crusoe can’t stand it at first but he then manages to make this horrible island into a paradise of his own.He was stranded on this island for 24 years with out any company but he then one day rescued a prisoner and things change. The novel is supposedly based on facts and so is a fictional novel.
I really found the plot line to be superb throughout the novel and I found it easy to follow. The novel is beautifully written and very well structured really adding to the excellence. If you like tropical island get away novels or films rather like “The lord of the flies” I would really recommend this novel.I hope this was useful and thank you very much for reading.
