Traveling in Beijing

Last summer, I had the opportunity to visit Beijing, the capital city of China. It was an unforgettable experience that opened my eyes to the rich history and culture of this amazing country. In this essay, I would like to share my travel experience and some useful English phrases and expressions that I learned during my trip.

Firstly, I visited the iconic Great Wall of China. Standing atop this magnificent structure, I was in awe of its grandeur and the incredible view it offered. I took many photos and even managed to strike up a conversation with a friendly local who was also visiting the Great Wall. We exchanged travel tips and recommendations for other places to visit in Beijing.

Next, I explored the historic Forbidden City, which was once the imperial palace during the Ming and Qing dynasties. As I walked through the vast complex, I marveled at the intricate architecture and ornate decorations. I also learned about the fascinating history of the emperors and their royal court. It was truly a step back in time.

During my trip, I also made sure to try some authentic Chinese cuisine. From Peking duck to traditional dumplings, the flavors were absolutely delicious. While ordering at restaurants, I found it helpful to know some basic phrases in English such as "Can I have the menu, please?" and "What do you recommend?" The locals were very patient and accommodating, and I enjoyed trying new dishes that I had never tasted before.

In addition to visiting the famous landmarks, I also explored the vibrant street markets and haggled for souvenirs. It was a fun and exhilarating experience, and I picked up some useful phrases such as "How much does it cost?" and "Can you give me a discount?" These phrases came in handy when negotiating prices with the local vendors.

Overall, my trip to Beijing was an incredible adventure. I not only got to see some of the world's most famous landmarks, but I also learned a great deal about Chinese culture and history. I highly recommend visiting Beijing to anyone who has the chance. It truly is a city of wonders.

I went Chong Qing in July 22.It is a city which was built near mountains.

So people call it Mountain City. In Chong Qing,I went to the Red Stone Center, to see the places which the prisoners lived in the past. It is a terrible and awful trip. There are a lot of dogs, and soldiers with guns near the prisons. And most of the prisons are good, they didnt want to tell the bad people where the other people were. They lived in very small houses. No good food to eat, no good water to drink. They had only twenty minutes to stay out side per day but they still said nothing.

I think they are the heros in that century. I will follow their spirit.

  我想他们是那个世纪的英雄。我将追随他们的精神。

The Culture of the United States is a Western culture, and has been developing since long before the United States became a country. Today the United States is a perse and multi-cultural nation.

The types of food served at home vary greatly and depend upon the region of the country and the familys own cultural heritage. Recent immigrants tend to eat food similar to that of their country of origin, and Americanized versions of these cultural foods, such as American Chinese cuisine or Italian-American cuisine often eventually appear. German cuisine also had a profound impact on American cuisine, especially the mid-western cuisine, with potatoes and meat being the most iconic ingredients in both cuisines.Dishes such as the hamburger, pot roast, baked ham and hot dogs are examples of American dishes derived from German cuisine

The primary, although not official, language of the United States is American English. According to the 20xx U.S. Census, more than 97% of Americans can speak English well, and for 81% it is the only language spoken at home. Nearly 30 million native speakers of Spanish also reside in the US. There are more than 300 languages besides English which can claim native speakers in the United States—some of which are spoken by the indigenous peoples (about 150 living languages) and others which were imported by immigrants. American Sign Language, used mainly by the deaf, is also native to the country. Hawaiian is also a language native to the United States, as it is indigenous nowhere else except in the state of Hawaii. Spanish is the second most common language in the United States, and is one of the official languages, and the most widely spoken, in the U.S. Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.

There are four major regional dialects in the United States: northeastern, south, inland north, and midwestern. The Midwestern accent (considered the "standard accent" in the United States, and analogous in some respects to the received pronunciation elsewhere in the English-speaking world) extends from what were once the "Middle Colonies" across the Midwest to the Pacific states.
