Organisers have said that the cost of hosting the 2010 Winter Olympics is expected to rise by 23 percent due to the frenzied building boom.
It would boost the expense of the Winter Games to 507 million US dollars, compared with the estimated cost of 411 million dollars in the city's bid documents.
Vancouver organizing committee CEO John Furlong told reporters on Friday that the city's heat
"It's a reality that affects every large-scale construction project in the province," he said. But Furlong noted that the organising committee has reassessed venue costs to save the cost.
"Understanding the heated construction environment we are operating in, our team spent the past two years rigorously examining every potential savings and efficiency," he said.
