My Memorable Mid-Autumn Festival

The Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the most important traditional Chinese festivals, which falls on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month. It is a time for family reunions and celebrating the harvest. This year, I had a particularly memorable Mid-Autumn Festival.

On the day of the festival, my family and I gathered at my grandparents' house. The house was beautifully decorated with lanterns and colorful paper cuttings, creating a festive atmosphere. We started the celebration by lighting up lanterns and placing them in the courtyard. The lanterns illuminated the night sky and added to the joyous ambiance.

After that, we enjoyed a delicious dinner together. My grandmother prepared various traditional dishes, such as mooncakes, sweet rice dumplings, and roast duck. The food was not only mouthwatering but also symbolized luck and prosperity. We shared stories and laughter while savoring the scrumptious meal.

Following dinner, we gathered in the living room to watch the annual Mid-Autumn Festival Gala on television. The gala featured traditional music and dance performances, as well as entertaining skits. We were captivated by the performances and laughed together at the humorous skits. It was a great way to bond with my family and enjoy the festive spirit.

After the gala, we went outside to appreciate the full moon. The moon on Mid-Autumn Festival is believed to be the brightest and roundest of the year, symbolizing unity and completeness. We gazed at the moon, shared our wishes, and ate mooncakes. It was a magical moment, surrounded by loved ones and under the enchanting moonlight.

As the night came to an end, we lit sky lanterns and released them into the sky. Watching the lanterns soar higher and higher, carrying our hopes and dreams, was a truly unforgettable experience. It felt like we were sending our blessings to the heavens above.

My memorable Mid-Autumn Festival was filled with love, laughter, and traditions. It reminded me of the importance of family and the joy of coming together to celebrate. I will cherish these precious moments and look forward to the next Mid-Autumn Festival with my loved ones.

A Modern Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration

The Mid-Autumn Festival is a traditional Chinese holiday that has been celebrated for centuries. However, as times change, so do the ways in which people celebrate. This year, my friends and I had a modern Mid-Autumn Festival celebration, combining traditional customs with modern elements.

Instead of gathering at someone's house, we decided to have a picnic in the park. We brought blankets, lanterns, and delicious food. The park was filled with people enjoying the festival, and the atmosphere was lively and festive. We found a cozy spot under a tree and set up our picnic area.

One of the modern elements we incorporated into our celebration was a portable projector. We set up a white sheet and projected a classic Chinese film onto it. As we watched the movie, we enjoyed mooncakes and other traditional snacks. It was a unique way to experience the festival while incorporating modern technology.

In addition to the film, we also played traditional Chinese games with a modern twist. We had a game of "Guess the Riddle," where we used a mobile app to generate riddles for us to solve. It was a fun and interactive activity that combined traditional customs with modern technology.

To capture the memories of our modern Mid-Autumn Festival celebration, we took photos with our smartphones and instantly shared them on social media. It was a way to connect with friends who couldn't be with us physically and to showcase the beauty of the festival to a wider audience.

As the night grew darker, we released sky lanterns into the sky. The lanterns were equipped with LED lights and colorful patterns, adding a modern touch to the traditional practice. It was a mesmerizing sight to see the lanterns floating gracefully in the night sky, creating a magical ambiance.

Our modern Mid-Autumn Festival celebration was a blend of tradition and innovation. It allowed us to preserve the customs and values of the festival while embracing modern technology and trends. It was a memorable experience that brought us closer together as friends and reminded us of the importance of celebrating and cherishing our cultural heritage in a modern world.

We tried our best to show our own enthusiasm. As an ethnic minority I performed a peacock dance which received warm applause. After the two-hour party we went out to the playground and sat together to appreciate the moon because it is a tradition on Mid-autumn Day. We ate moon cak

es played cards and listened to romantic poems recited by one of our classmates. In that harmonious atmosphere nobody felt lonely or homesick even though we were far away from our homes.

The Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the two most important holidays in the Chinese calendar (the other being the Chinese Lunar New Year), and is a legal holiday in several countries.

The Mid-Autumn Festival has all interesting history. Long ago in one of the dynasties of China there was a king who was very cruel to the people and did not manage the country well. The people were so angry that some brave ones suggested killing the king. So they wrote notes telling about the meeting place and time and put them into cakes. On the 15th day of the 8th lunar month every person was told to buy the cakes. When they ate them they discovered the notes. So they gathered together to make a sudden attack on the king. From then on the Chinese people celebrate on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month and eat "moon cakes" in memory of that important event.

Farmers celebrate the end of the summer harvesting season on this date. Traditionally,on this day,Chinese family members and friends will gather to admire the bright mid-autumn harvest moon, and eat moon cakes and pomeloes together. It is also commmon to have barbecues outside under the moon, and to put pomelo rinds on one‘s head. Brightly lit lanterns are often carried around by children.

Together with the celebration, there appear some special customs in different parts of the country, such as burning incense, planting Mid-Autumn trees, lighting lanterns on towers, and fire dragon dances. Shops selling mooncakes, before the festival, often display pictures of Chang‘e,floating to the moon.
