《老人与海》英文读后感 篇一
"The Old Man and the Sea" by Ernest Hemingway is a timeless classic that explores the themes of perseverance, determination, and the human spirit. The story follows an old fisherman named Santiago, who has gone without catching a fish for eighty-four days. Despite his hardships, Santiago remains resilient and sets out on a journey to catch a giant marlin. This novel left a deep impression on me and taught me valuable lessons about life and the pursuit of one's dreams.
One of the main themes of the book is perseverance. Santiago's determination to catch the marlin is awe-inspiring. He faces numerous obstacles along the way, including physical exhaustion and a battle with a group of sharks. Despite these challenges, Santiago never gives up. His unwavering perseverance serves as a reminder that success often requires persistence and a refusal to accept defeat. This theme resonated with me personally, as it reminded me to never give up on my own dreams and goals, no matter how difficult they may seem.
Another theme explored in the book is the human spirit. Santiago's unwavering spirit is evident throughout the story. He remains hopeful and optimistic, even in the face of adversity. His deep love for the sea and his passion for fishing drive him to continue his journey, despite the physical toll it takes on him. This theme reminded me of the resilience of the human spirit and the power of passion and determination. It made me reflect on the importance of staying true to oneself and pursuing one's passions, even when faced with challenges.
Furthermore, the relationship between Santiago and the marlin is a metaphor for the relationship between man and nature. Santiago respects and admires the marlin, recognizing its strength and beauty. He sees himself as a worthy opponent to the marlin, rather than an enemy. This relationship highlights the interconnectedness of humans and the natural world. "The Old Man and the Sea" by Ernest Hemingway is a profound and introspective novel that delves into the themes of isolation, struggle, and the meaning of life. The story follows an old fisherman named Santiago, who finds himself alone at sea for an extended period of time. As he battles against nature and his own limitations, Santiago reflects on his existence and the purpose of his endeavors. This novel left a lasting impact on me and made me contemplate the depths of human experience.
One of the main themes explored in the book is isolation. Santiago's solitude at sea highlights the profound loneliness that can be experienced in life. Despite his age and physical frailty, Santiago refuses to let his limitations define him. He pushes himself to the limit, both physically and mentally, in his pursuit of catching the marlin. This theme resonated with me personally, as it reminded me of the importance of pushing past my own limitations and striving for excellence in all aspects of life.
Furthermore, the novel raises questions about the meaning of life and the purpose of human endeavors. 《老人与海》英文读后感 篇三
After I read the book that is called “The old man and the sea” I was deeply moved by the old man and his spirit.
The book written by Hemingway tells us a story that an old man whose name is Santiago went out to do some fishing on the sea on his own but down on his luck he hadn’t caught any fish for 84 days. Next day he caught a huge marlin which is bigger than his boat and took a formidable battle with it. He beat it at the end. When he was on the way home the smells of blood of the marlin draw a lot of sharks’ attention and they fought for it. In order to protect the marlin and him theold man tried his best to fight with them. After a cruel fight he won it and cameback home tiredly. Although he only got a skeleton of the giant marlin at last he is also a great hero in many people’s heart.
In the article the old man is a great man. Although he failed for many time in his lifehe never gave up. He is a steel-willing man who insisted his dream and work hard. You can destroy him but you can’t beat him. Whatever he faced to he would never yield to the difficult which shows a strong spirit.
In our lives I think we should learn something from the old man which will make us have a more valuable life. Whenever and wherever we meet trouble we should never give up and try our best to overcome it. We should always keep on our dream and make it come true. Every one has his backbone which can’t be bended by anyone which is very important for everyone in his whole life. If we meet difficulty in our life we should face it bravely and work out some way to solve theproblem whatever would happen at last. We can be destroyed but we can’t bebeat by anything or anyone. If you failed for many times in your life you wouldn’t surrender because if you try to do it you may succeed in your life but if you do not do it you would not be succeed forever. Everyone has his advantages and disadvantages in his life but we should face to our disadvantages and we must beconfident which would also make us be confident of our life. We should have faith in what we do in our life we will have a more beautiful life in the future and our dream will come true. We should pay more attention to what we do during our liferather than what we will get at the end because I think it is more important than any thing you get finally. If you enjoy you life not something you get you will have a meaningful life and a noble spirit. It will hurt you when you pay more attention to what you get in the future. It will also make you do something wrong which is bad for other people our society and our country.
I’m impressed by the sentence which is “We can be destroyed but we can’t bebeat.” I think everyone should do it no matter what happen in our life. This book makes me know something I didn’t know in the past. The book and the old man have a great influence in my life. I love this book.
《老人与海》英文读后感 篇四
I was very favor of a section of music in its balls. It’s pretty brisk, liked a wonderful song of a bird. Regarding to the characters, I liked Elizabeth, the he-ro-in-e,though I didn’t think she’s beautiful. But she’s smart. However, I didn’t pay much attention to the plot. I thought it’s so long that it made me impatient and bored. By now, I haven’t read the whole story in English or its Chinese version, either. I owe it to my prejudice. In fact, I didn’t understand the story at that time. I didn’t know why it called Pride and Prejudice. Of course someone was pride, but I didn’t find where’ s the prejudice. I thought it’s normal, the way people treated each other in that. I considered prejudice would be very disgusting. But to the movieeverthing was OK in my minds, except its length. Now, I think I have understood more about it. I’m a prejudiced person so I can’t find where’s wrong.
I merely like to do the things I like. Everytime I meet somebody or something,my thinking about he or it all depends on my foregone experience and my mood of thetime.
《老人与海》英文读后感 篇五
On summer vacation of this year I studied in novel " old man and sea " of Hemingway famous writer of U.S.A. . I admire the old fishermans will in the novel very much he lets me understand that a person must have unremitting spirit could succeed . What the novel is described is an old fisherman almost the sixty years old when go to sea and fish alone once have angled to a big fish but can not draw. After tough fisherman and fish have socialized for a few days just find this is a big Malins fish which exceeds several times of ones own fishing boat though know perfectly well that it is very difficult to win does not give up yet. Because big Malin fish fishlike smell of wound attract odd herds of shark vie for the food again later but the old man is still unwilling to give up like this stress the tight encirclement finally take the large fish back to fishing port let other fishmen admire it endlessly. The old fisherman thinks that as I read ": It is really too close from here to coast perhaps there are bigger fish in the farther place ……" Whenadmire very much because this old fisherman in the persons because play not for some fishing he already at this moment I but he is not satisfied with the existing state of affairs but advance towards greater goal. Seeing us again meet some little difficulties at ordinary times all of us complain bitterly. We are the future of the motherland should be as ambitious as this old man go to pursue well greater goal. Read as me " big Malin fish is it enclose light fishing boat move about is it get mast to twine cable fast to begin old man right hand hold steel fork high jump out in a flash affording to try ones best above water in it a sound of wail has finished the life of the loud fish it floats on the surface of water silently ……"Whenthe I one heart is too fall like pieces of stone not big.
I admire that kind of fearing of the old man at all unremitting spirit very much though know rivals strength is very strong but he has not shrunk back at all meets the difficulty. Just because there is this kind of spirit the old fisherman has obtained the victory of the trial of strength of this life and death. We should study the old fishermans spirit too in life do the thing and is not afraid of the difficulty could achieve success . Read big blood offensive smell of fish smell one shark fall over each other to visit to vie for the food left hand of old man pull a muscle just he can only use right hand can weapon attacked to used for defend oneself with stick mouth of swordfish that catch everything and has driven away this herd of shark finally. But big meat of fish take into big half already but old man criticize ones own left hand " when the work this when have a rest " humorously also I am subdued by old mans optimistic spirit too. In life some losses are unavoidable we should treat the optimistic attitude cant worry about petty gain or loss .
Finally the novel sees with a teenager that old fisherman has 18 feet of big long Malins fish totally in the tolerance the ones that have described this fish are enormous again prove that old fishermans difficulty overcome is big than ordinary. Old fishermans spirit that makes great efforts to struggle fearless of danger and difficulty that the novel has been extolled we should be like him too can t be satisfied with the current situation should be positive upwards it should be unremitting to do anything it must not give up halfway to meeting difficulty should meet the difficulty. Only in this way we could obtain greater success and victory .
《老人与海》英文读后感 篇六
The Old Man And The Sea This is a great book, mind you。 How I gave opinions to that is the spirits of Santiago greatly affected me。 But the author, Earnest Hemingway said if his writing is really good, then the characters can also be many other things。 Santiago is a common fisherman, and he hadnt had a fish for 84 days。 And this time when he left he fished a big salmon by himself。 He fought the fish for 3 days and nights and finally he kills it。 He called it his brother。 But he then had to fight the sharks and finally he gone home with a fish spine, and some fish bones。 I could find his great spirits of never giving up。 Particularly if he just loose the grip of the fishing poleand let the fish go, he wouldnt have any trouble, but he can stay to the end。 Something I regret to tell you is that I didnt read this book very carefully, so I intend to tell you I want to read this book again and tell you what Ive gained through the second—time reading。
