化身博士英文读后感 篇一
"Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" is a classic novella written by Robert Louis Stevenson. The story revolves around the dual identities of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, exploring the themes of duality, morality, and the human nature. After reading this book, I was left with a sense of unease and a deeper understanding of the complexity of human nature.
The character of Dr. Jekyll is initially portrayed as a respected and virtuous man, but as the story progresses, we learn about his darker side through Mr. Hyde. Driven by curiosity and his desire to explore the realms of good and evil, Dr. Jekyll creates a potion that transforms him into the evil and immoral Mr. Hyde. This split personality allows Dr. Jekyll to indulge in his deepest desires without facing the consequences. However, as the transformations become more frequent, Dr. Jekyll struggles to control Mr. Hyde, eventually leading to his own downfall.
One of the aspects that fascinated me the most about this book is the exploration of duality. Stevenson presents the idea that every individual has both good and evil within them, and that suppressing one side can lead to disastrous consequences. Dr. Jekyll represents the struggle we all face between our desires and our moral obligations. It serves as a reminder that we should strive for balance and self-awareness in order to avoid succumbing to our darker impulses.
Another theme that resonated with me was the concept of morality. Throughout the story, Hyde commits several heinous acts without any remorse or guilt, while Jekyll attempts to maintain his moral integrity. This raises questions about the nature of morality and the extent to which it can be influenced by external factors. It made me reflect on the idea that morality is not inherent, but rather a result of our choices and actions.
The character of Mr. Hyde serves as a symbol of the consequences of unchecked desires and the darker aspects of humanity. Stevenson's portrayal of Hyde is chilling and disturbing, highlighting the potential evil that lies within each of us. It made me question the nature of evil and whether it is a product of circumstance or an inherent part of human nature.
Overall, "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" is a thought-provoking and unsettling read. It delves into the depths of the human psyche, forcing us to confront our own dualities and the consequences of our actions. It serves as a reminder that we should strive for self-awareness and moral integrity, as suppressing our darker impulses can lead to our own destruction. This book left me with a sense of unease, but also a deeper understanding of the complexity of human nature.
化身博士英文读后感 篇二
"Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" is a masterpiece that explores the darkest corners of the human mind. Written by Robert Louis Stevenson, this novella delves into the themes of identity, repression, and the consequences of unchecked desires. After reading this book, I was left with a sense of awe at the intricate portrayal of the human psyche.
The character of Dr. Jekyll represents the struggle between our public and private selves. He is a respected and successful man in society, but beneath the surface, he yearns for the freedom to indulge in his darker desires. Through the creation of Mr. Hyde, Jekyll is able to separate these conflicting identities and explore his repressed desires without fear of judgment. However, as the transformations become more frequent, Jekyll loses control over Hyde, leading to his own demise.
One of the aspects that struck me the most about this book is the exploration of repression. By creating a physical manifestation of his dark side, Jekyll is able to release the desires that he has long suppressed. This raises questions about the consequences of denying our true selves and the potential dangers of repressed emotions. It made me reflect on the importance of self-acceptance and embracing all aspects of our identities.
The character of Mr. Hyde serves as a symbol of the consequences of unchecked desires and the dangers of giving in to our basest instincts. Hyde's actions are devoid of morality and remind us of the potential evil that lies within each of us. Stevenson's portrayal of Hyde is chilling and serves as a cautionary tale about the destructive power of unrestrained desires.
Another theme that resonated with me is the idea of the duality of human nature. Stevenson suggests that every individual has both good and evil within them, and that suppressing one side can lead to disastrous consequences. This made me reflect on the importance of acknowledging and balancing these conflicting aspects of ourselves. It serves as a reminder that we should strive for self-awareness and find a healthy outlet for our desires.
"Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" is a captivating and thought-provoking read. It delves into the depths of the human psyche, exploring the complexities of identity and the consequences of repressed desires. It left me with a sense of wonder at Stevenson's ability to unravel the intricacies of human nature and the choices we make. This book serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of self-acceptance, balance, and the potential dangers of unchecked desires.
化身博士英文读后感 篇三
Jeff or Hyde impressed me most. As he said in the book, "I am one person of two sides." Thats it. Hes quite different from Lanyon and Utterson, and even differs from many characters in other.
I love to read this character though I dont like this evil man at all. But I really take a great pity on this bad guy.
On one hand, he gained much joy from the successful experiment. Whats more, on the other hand, he can escape from punishment while doing bad as Hyde. So, we may guess why Stevenson names the bad guy Hyde, ,,which sounds like "hide". I have to say that he is quite a success and very achievable, while just as a doctor or Jeff, not Hyde at all.
However, more bitterness than sweets had he tastes. Each time he recovered to Jeff after doing bad, what a huge guilty he must burden. I still remember in his letter to Utterson, described was a poor man near to break down with much guilty and regrets beyond our thoughts and almost a lunatic.
As a real human with emotions and affections, he is absolutely quite a failure despite of his achievements on science. Represented on the paper is a man full of evil! And I hope this tragedy on science never come true, for it will destroy all we have.

Thanks God, We Have Computer Game Instead
The story of Dr Jekyll is quite famous around the world, however, Dr Jekyll himself is a typical tragic person. He is a kind and wise doctor in front of the public, but might not wise enough to adjust himself. As an old saying goes: every coin has two sides. Dr Jekyll also has his own negative side, which finally become Mr. Hide. Mr. Hide is always hunger for violence, and all the bad things he did tell us that too. People may treat him as a criminal, but to me, he is just unable to find a way to abreact.
It really doesn’t matter if you are a man lives in 19th century or comes from stone age, we are all people, we all have feelings, we all have our own Mr. or Ms Hide, the only question is, can you find a way to maintain your mental health? Maybe we can’t afford to have our own psychological consultant, but we CAN play games to relax ourselves, or realize any wildest dream in this virtual world. Imaging this, once our Dr Jekyll has some evil minds, he can turn to his computer for help. Maybe he can play some action games to satisfy his desire for “passion”, just like people today. Since the video game is always about the adventure
s of some superheroes, the game will guide him to the daydreaming of everything good but a criminal. As soon as he feels good again, then he will never try to become Mr. Hide in the reality. Maybe you will consider this as a nave idea, but computer game does reduce the crime rate in America.
