影片中还有一个盲点，也就是电影中的高潮，矛盾的最高点:迈克在调查员的心理暗示下认为陶西太太他们一家人对自己好，就是想利用自己，让自己进入密西西比大学为他们的'母校效力。他觉得自己特别无助，想逃避。当矛盾解开的那一刹那，迈克与陶西一家的感情更为深厚，他对调查员说的一句话很让人感动：“你为什么不问我，为什么我会想去密西西比大学?那是因为我的家人都是在那里念书，所以我想去那。”只是这一句，所有的误会、不甘与怀疑都解决了。
