小王子英文读后感《A Book that Impacted Me Most》

I don’t remember the exact year I first read The Little Prince 。 Though the golden snake in the book plays a cameo role , I never forget the scene that he flashed kissed gently on the little prince’s ankle。 It made me be afraid to reread this book。

Later, I listened a Michael Wong’s song named Fairy-tale Story, the prince in his song is different from the prince in The Little Prince, the prince in the song is the same as Andersen’s tales’ princes, they all have happy endings。

However, I think The Little Prince is a sad story。 There is a saying: There are a thousand Hamlets in a thousand peoples eyes。 Now, let me talk about my reading feeling。 This simple story flies over every corner of the world: a pilot (the narrator) who had an accident with his plane and crashed in the Desert of Sahara then he met the little prince from the planet B-612, and the narrator listened little prince’s travel experience of seven planets。 On the seven planets, he met a variety of persons。 They are the king, the conceited man, the businessman, the tippler, the lamplighter, the geographer and so on。

The Little Prince is a story belongs to adults who have childlike innocence。because children don’t understand the little prince’s deep sadness。This is not so much a fairy tale, as it is a tragedy。 This story tells the grow-ups’ world is full of empty, lost and loneliness with kids’ perspective。 Among the story, the alcoholic is impressive。 He was surrounded by a pile of beer bottles when the little prince saw him, and prince asked him why he is drinking, but he answered he want to forget his shame of drinking。 This short planet visit plunged little prince into deep puzzled。 He think the grow-ups are certainly very, very odd。 In kids' eyes, beautiful things must look with heart。 But the adults pay more attention on things’ appearance that is just a shell and they don’t believe the eyes are blind and the heart is true。

Through this story, it also made me understand what’s the love---love's more mineral, more dense, more bitter and more weighty than the earth's profoundest matter。

When I first read The Little Prince, I can’t understand the mean of love and never to think why should the little prince leave alone since he love his rose so deeply。 For years, I reread the story and think about it。 The simple true was first love。 The little prince didn’t know how to love and It was difficult to make him understand the rose’s heart, so it may lead to misunderstanding and hurts from time to time。 He leaved his planet because he can not accept the rose and himself。

This is why the little prince don’t know he have to leave : at that time, he had no idea he was in it。 The little prince don’t understand the meaning of tame until he met the fox later。 Then he produced the endless yearning for the roses and realized his responsibility。

“Do you want to be domesticated?” For me, this is a profound question。 In the book, the little prince met a fox and invited the fox to play with him, but he was refused。 The fox told him that he was not tamed。 “what does that mean--tame?” little prince asked。 The fox answered:” it means to establish ties: to me, you are still nothing more than a little boy who is just like a hundred thousand other little boys。 And I have no need of you。 And you, on your part, have no need of me。 To you, I am nothing more than a fox like a hundred thousand other foxes。 But if you tame me, then we shall need each other。 To me , you will be unique in all the world。 To you, I shall be unique in all the world。”

Gradually the little prince was beginning to understand, because he remembered his rose and he thought his rose had tamed him。 So he chose to go back to his planet in the end。 But to the fox, the little prince’s farewell will make her sad, but the hurts because of love, she should learn to accept it gradually。 I believe there are full of hurts within serious and true love。

As long as the little prince flied to different planets and met a variety of persons can he understand himself andhis rose。 So I think traveling is a good way to experience life。

“Hills Like White Elephants”, one of Hemingway’s terrific works, is a story that happens at a train station in the Ebro River valley of Spain. An American and his girlfriend are drinking beers and having a conversation when they are waiting for the train. In the dialogue, the young man’s attempt of convincing the girl Jig to take an operation has caused a lot of arguments. Though they are not explicit about what this operation really is, I consider this operation an abortion.

The conversation between them suggests that they are talking about an abortion. In the text, the man says it is an awfully simple operation and “it is just to let the air in” (Hemingway, 373). “To let the air in” is a process of vacuum aspiration in America in the 1920s, which is commonly used as a method of induced abortion. What is more, in their argument, Jig says, “Once they take it away, you never get it back”(Hemingway, 374). The man also makes it clear that he does not want anyone else but her. And this statement indicates a third person is involved. What could be the thing taken away in an operation that you may still want it back? Who could come to get in their life if the girl does not take the operation? All we can come up with is a baby. The man does not want a baby before they settle down, before he is ready to take the responsibility of raising a family. And Jig is still struggling about whether to take this operation or not in their debates. So this is an operation to take the unexpected baby away---abortion.

Sceneries between the two lines of the rails are also indications of their two different choices in pregnancy. On one side, there is no shade and no trees but only barren land stretching toward the hills. On the other side, the land is covered with green, fertile fields and river. Barren is used to describe a woman who is unable to produce children while fertile represents female’s capability of producing babies. If Jig agrees to take the operation, then the baby will no longer exist and thus making her barren. But if she chooses not to, then she will be consider as a fertile woman who is able to produce babies. That is to say the two totally opposite views symbolize their dilemma of the pregnancy --- infertile or fecund, undergo the abortion or not.

The title of this story itself is a metaphor implying this is an abortion. White elephant denotes something that is completely burdensome, although it may be precious enough. And here in this text, the white elephant is the symbol of a baby—valuable but troublesome. There is no doubt that the baby is a treasure. But the fact is that they are a young couple traveling around the world without a place to settle down. They have neither enough time nor energy to take care of a baby. Even if they don’t have to worry about those material conditions, they are not psychologically ready yet. Problems like “requirements of being qualified parents” has never occurred in their minds. Based on both physical and psychology circumstances of the young couple, we can see that the baby is precious but also a burden. Hence the white elephant here is an intimation of an abortion.

The phrase “to let the air in” makes it quite clear that this is an abortion. And during their debates, we can get to know someone is involved in this young couple and the American is trying to get away from this third person by requesting Jig to take the operation. Furthermore, the two different landscapes on the two sides of the rails is also foreshadowing us the outcome of Jig’s choice. Take it, she is barren. Reject, fertile. And the white elephant becomes emblematic of a baby that could be a sweet burden in their life. This symbol strengthen the operation that has been talked about in the whole story is an abortion. With all these factors integrated together, we can conclude this is an abortion.

On summer vacation of this year, I studied in novel _ old man and sea _ of Hemingway , famous writer of . ,. I admire the old fisherman's will in the novel very much, he lets me understand that a person must have unremitting spirit, could succeed .

Man is not made for defeat,a man can be destroyed but he can not be defeated. Gently closing the book _the old man and the sea_,I can't help thinking . In real life, encountering difficulty is unavoidable, the most important is to confront and have perseverance so that we can learn from failure.

英文读后感范文模板 篇六

Ive read this twice. The first time I rushed through it just to find out who was the _victim._ Yeah. Wasnt really surprised about that. Im sure a few people are thinking it was a serious mistake to off our lamented victim, but honestly, I wasnt really enthused at having to slog through this book.

I understand that this is covering the adolescent years of young Mr. Potter, but the whole teenage angst thing came out of nowhere. There shouldve been some hints as far back as _Chamber_ but instead, we have four years of pent-up hormones come flooding out of the page. It is overwhelming at times, a feeling made worse when you realize that there wasnt a big plot; if anything, this was written partially for contract, partially to continue the story (I, personally, could have lived without the whole Hagrid/Grawp subplot, not to mention 50% of Dolores Umbridge, who herself is part pun, part metaphor, yet neither part really does anything but make one groan)。

But one thing to be said, there is growing tension and suspense in the book, which is written and intended--if we remember for a moment and think (perhaps somewhat na-iv-ely)--for young adults and not those of us with seasoned palates. This is why the book deserves a high rating; to me--and to many inpiduals over the age of, say, 16--this isnt a great novel. But it is an excellent novel for the young adult crowd and anyone who wants a mystery/fantasy/pseudo-thriller with characters who are reaching the genesis of their development. We may not like the person Harry becomes or the browbeating attitude of Umbridge or Rons jealousy rearing its head at odd turns, but it is a realistic portrayal of adolescent confusion and angst, of the tendency for some inpiduals in todays society to repreinformation and punish anyone who tries to resist the _system._

Yes, this is a heavy-handed statement, but this book is a metaphor as much as it is a fantasy. Remember, the Harry Potter series is desgined as an arc, so we naturally have to have the stage set for the final two books in the saga.

Hardcore Potter fans will enjoy this. Anyone expecting a great epic, however, will be disappointed because of their misconceptions.
