Good morning, teachers! My name is Hanchunhui, I am 23 years old and Ill graduate from zhoukou normal university in this June. Today my topic is Festivals and celebrations. Festival is familiar to us, for example: Spring Festival in ChIna. This text is mainly from four aspects to introduce the festivals around the world. First, Festivals of the Dead, such as Japanese festival Obon, the Western holiday Halloween. Second, Festivals to honour people, such as The Dragon Boat Festival in China, Columbus Day in the USA. Third, Harvest Festivals,such as Thanksgiving Day in European, Mid-autumn Day in China and Japan. Fourth, Spring Festivals, such as Spring Festival in China, Easter in the Western, Japanese Cherry Blossom Festival. Festival is the worlds people to meet the needs of production and living together to create a folk culture, is an important part of folk culture. Understand the origins of festivals and the methods to celebrate help students better understand the world culture and expand their knowledge. Teaching aims : 1、Let the students learn the useful new words and expressions in this part; 2、Let the students learn about history and basic knowledge of festivals both in and out of China; 3、Develop students’reading ability and let them learn different reading skills; Teaching important points:1、Let students learn more about history and knowledge of festivals. 2、Get students to learn different reading skills. Teaching difficult points:1、Develop students’ reading ability. 2、Enable students to talk about festivals and celebrations. Teaching aids:Multimedia,a recorder and other normal teaching tools will be used. Teaching methods: 1、task—based teaching.(任务教学) 2、cooperative learning.(合作学习) 3、discussion.(讨论) Teaching Procedures: Step 1 : Leading-in Have a free talk with students.Ask them the following questions: 1) Do you have a good time in your winter holiday? 2) When did you feel most happy and excited?Why? Step 2 : Warming up 1) Let students brainstorm the other Chinese festivals.(Lantern Festival,Pure Brightness Festival,Dragon Boat Festival,Mid-Autumn Day,New Year’s Day,Chung Yeung Festival……) 2) Talk about some foreign festivals with students.(Christmas,April Fools’Day,Easter,Halloween,Valentine’s Day,Thanksgiving Day……) Step 3 : Reading 1) Fast reading Ask students to skim the reading passage then fill in the following chart.
